Architect’s Journal does a write up on Thamesmead

I found an article online today. It seems largely accurate with comments such as

Southmere Lake is where ‘regeneration’ started a few years ago, and the results were sad. Owners Gallions Housing Association demolished all the parts of the lakeside area most likely to be instantly listed, were they in NW1 rather than SE28 – first the Health Centre, then the Tavy Bridge shopping area and its linked flats, and finally, last year, the deck-access lakeside block.

It’s an overview of the state of play today, and delves briefly into Thamesmead’s future in the light of the recent investment. It comes at an interesting time as I’ve just received word that South Thamesmead residents are to imminently receive a “brochure” with details of some of the forthcoming development work.
